No Reins, No Rules, No Limits, has won a second international film award at a prestigious ceremony in New York.
Emma Massingale, a horse behaviourist from Holsworthy, won the Winnie Award Equestrian Director Short at the respected Equus Film Festival, which attracted 140 films from 20 countries worldwide.
She won the award for her film, Emma Massingale – No Reins, No Rules, No Limits, along with horse film specialists Equine Productions.
No Reins, No Rules, No Limits, is the first person story of horse trainer Emma Massingale, showing her gift for working with horses at liberty.
The 22 minute film was commissioned by the horse feed supplement company NAF.
The challenging disciplines involve standing on the back of a herd of horses – with nothing to control or support you. “It’s incredible to have won two awards at the Equus Film Festival,” said Emma.
“Tiny things can make a huge difference and people’s kindness and support has meant so much to me.
“I have found that these films make a real difference to people and several people have told me how they have sown a seed of inspiration, which is sometimes all we need to transform dreams into reality.”

equusawardFor Emma and Equine Productions, the timing of the latest award couldn’t be better as it gave them the opportunity to premier the new film they made this summer.
The Island Project, sponsored by the West Country’s Mole Valley Farmers, shows Emma’s lone adventure on an island, off the coast of Ireland when she attempts to train two new ponies with four of her trained Connemaras, without reins or equipment of any kind.
Emma was marooned on Freaghillaun South, a 70-acre island, for one month, and described the experience as the best of her life.
During her island stay, Emma only had a tent to call home and the bare minimum of supplies as she foraged and fished for food, while also breaking-in un-handled young ponies, Evenos and Echo.

Horseware Ireland won the Non- Broadcast Category at the Equus Film Festival in New York City. Horseware Ireland’s head of marketing, Emma Ferguson, who worked with Emma, said: “We’re thrilled with the Winnie award, it was definitely the most enjoyable campaign we have completed and we’re blown away by its success. It was an absolute privilege working with Emma Massingale and her team of Connemaras.”
